Is enthanol in 93 octane a problem to use?
I just put my first 1/2 tank of 93 octane gas in my mini. I noticed after I was almost finished the sign said: " may contain up to 10% ethanol". I this a problem to use? It seems that everywhere I go the gas contains ethanol? Any suggestions or ideas?

From what I understand is that ethanol is not good for internal combustion motors. They will and do operate using it. Using ethanol will decrease your MPG's and increase engine wear over the long run, thus contribute to the pollution factor. Not to mention taking up valuable farm land and feeding our cars corn, which makes no sense to me what so ever.

Ethanol for the MINI
I have done some research and the bottom line is: You can use the 93 octane with ethanol and it will not hurt the engine. However, I can attest that if you use it you will feel a reduction in performance and gas mileage. Generally," do what is right from the start and you will not regret it at the finish".

Yes you can use ethanol in your vehicle just as you can use 87 octane in it.
Performance and mileage will suffer.
Just as using ethanol in it. You can use it, but performance and mileage will suffer. Using ethanol as a additive, you will be emitting more contaminates into the air, along with harming your motor internally.
I'm not even talking about the energy/time it takes and the taxes involved into adding ethanol to gasoline. We won't even get into the money aspect of who is making the money when adding this element to our fuel systems.
Bottom line.
Find a gas station that sells ethanol free gas ( they are out there) and not only will your car thank you , but your children will also, along with your wallet. There are web sites out there that make it possible to find ethanol free service stations in your neighborhood.

Refineries are recieving 5 Billion a year in federal subsidies, just to add ethanol to our fuel supply
