Default Hi From NE Ohio

Hi All,

I've been checking out, test driving some MC's. I am on here to glean as much as I can. One sure thing is it has to be a manual 5 or 6 speed. With the rising cost of gas, what are the real world MPG's of some of your vehicles? I will be checking out what to look for, already leaned about clutch, power steering pump, & front struts problems. Are the earlier ones built better than the later. Is an "S" a beefed up version or just a supercharger add-on?

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks again Bad. I've seen EPA ratings of 37 Highway, right on the money for the lil Mrs. car & 36 for the S. I wondered how real world numbers related. The JCW, gets 31 by gov ratings.

I did not know that some were supercharged & some were turbo charged. A turbo as you know takes no HP to run but always has the so called turbo lag. I've had 2 gasser turbos & one diesel. I've enjoyed them all. I will have to do some research on the differences as it pretains to the Cooper. Interesting!

Thnaks,
Dave

Thanks again Bad! Why did they change to a Turbo?

A setup that Banks is using is a Turbo S/C combo in their diesel modified 6.6 Duramax engines. Good for 900 hp 1800 lb.torque & still delivers 20 MPG.

I know, it would never fit in a Mini!

Nice, that should make even more power than a JCW. Will new ARP head studs need to be put in I wonder?

Why did the SC got changed over to a Turbo in the Gen 2?

Talk to BMW ... Many prefer the S/C and keep the old ones on the road
