About a week ago I purchased my first Mini Cooper S! It is an '04 with 89,000 miles on it, very minor issues in the paint and only one small dent. On the first test drive I wasn't too happy but that is because the tires were all wont out completely. I got a new set of tires put on and took it to a fellow auto crosser who works only on Minis and Volvos and was told I needed to replace the clutch, an engine mount, the control arm bushings, getting a new idler kit, fixing a few oil leaks, and replacing the inner c/v boot on the right side. While they were doing all of the work it was brought up that the supercharger has metal shavings on the inside because the oil was never checked on it, so it was either replace or rebuild....(I opted to find a used one to save some money). All in all It took about a week from purchase until my Cooper S was ready, and man was it so worth the wait! From the initial test drive to now is a night and day difference! In all I have just shy of 7k tied up in the car now, a bit more than expected, but having all of the issues fixed and having it run like a dream is so much better than driving it around wanting a better ride out of it. I am so happy with this car and can't wait to see where it takes me!

 

That's awesome! In a way you kind of did an overhaul on your Mini. I have an 04 MCS as well. I do need a new clutch pretty soon as well. Thanks for your story and enjoy your Mini!
