Default Just ordered 2015 Cooper S

Hello all. My wife and I just ordered a 2015 MINI Cooper S. This is our first MINI. My wife, God Bless Her, has been driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey Touring for the last 6 years. It has served us well. We bought it as a dealer demo just before the birth of our son, our second child. We also have an 8 year old daughter. The Odyssey has 195,000km and has done a few drives down to Florida (from Toronto, ON). After 6 years, my wife deserves a new ride and she has wanted a MINI Cooper since the first New MINIs arrived in 2003.

Anyways, onto the important stuff:

2015 MINI Cooper S
Thunder Grey with White Roof and Mirrors
6 Speed Manual Transmission
Fully Loaded Package
John Cooper Works Appearance Package (the engine package wasn't available at the time we were ordering our car and it would have cost an extra $7,000.00)
LED Lights Package
Visibility Package

I think that is it. We also squeezed a discount on tinting and stone guard out of the dealer. Since it is new body style, we didn't get much of a discount (we weren't expecting too much since they had nothing on the lot).

I'm looking forward to learning about the MINI aftermarket. On my side, I come from 5 previous BMWs. I am currently driving a 2009 BMW LeMans Blue E92 M3 with DCT and numerous modifications. I know next to nothing about tuning a MINI. I don't even know who the vendors are. So, now begins a fun journey because I don't think I will be able to leave the wife's car alone.

Can't wait until the car arrives. We were told it should be here in November. Also, we were told that it will be the first MINI Cooper S with the Cooper Works appearance package in Canada.

Great! - good luck with your new Mini. I worked on the original Mini, back in Oxford in the
last century.

Did you give any consideration to the three cylinder engine being introduced in 2015? Opinions? Pros/Cons?

When we went to look at the Cooper, we were actually planning to get a Scion FR-S and went to test drive the Cooper to rule it out. Well, obviously, that turned out differently than we thought it would.

We test drove both the Cooper and the Cooper S. Honestly, the base Cooper with the turbo 3cyl engine was actually quite peppy. I didn't find it lacking. It has better fuel economy than the S but the fuel economy on the S is still pretty damn good.

The Cooper S was pretty awesome though. I love the rev matching on downshifts with the manual transmission.

In the end, my wife decided she liked the way the Cooper S looked over the more plain Jane appearance of the base Cooper. Pros or cons? It all depends on what you like and what you feel you need. My wife likes to drive so the extra power of the S was certainly appealing. I think if the full JCW package had been available when we ordered the car, we might have gone for that.

On a side note, the dealership has been invoiced for the car so they are expecting the arrival of the car by the end of this week. With Dealer Prep to be done (we bought it with tint and stone guard as dealer installed options) they think we can pick up the car early next week! It is the first Cooper S ordered with the JCW appearance package in Canada.

Fingers crossed. My wife is getting impatient!

Default It's here!

As I mentioned in my last post, the car arrived at the dealer on Friday morning. As soon as it arrived it was whisked away for PDI. I guess since it was a customer order, it had priority over the dealer stock.

So anyways, my sales rep snapped a few pics for me before they put the winter wheels on :-(

Here they are.
