Mimi A/C has stumped me.
Hello all,
I'm new to this site. My partner's son has an 06. It's not driven in a few years but I start it 1x a month, check the fluids and air the tires, just the basics. Keep it on a trickle charger and always fires right up. I do drive it 2-3x a year just to keep the rotors smooth.
Current issue is with the A/C. I'm fairly good with most auto and very experienced with home A/C. A few days ago I uncovered the Rig and fired it up. Took my guages just to see if the system was holding a charge. Before start up I clicked the guages on and there was 90lbs static pressure Hi and low side with ambient about 83, which is about normal. I push the a/c button with cabin fan on high and there was terrible sound inside. Chitty-chitty bang bang. I turned the car off, pulled the cabin filter and a substantial amount of acorns came out. I cleaned, shook out and blew off the filter. Then reached in to the squirrel cage wand remover the Rat nest. Mostly attic insulation etc. Afrer all that was cleared out and the cabin fan blew out the little remaining loose dust etc I fired up the Rig and a/c. No more noise and great airflow. I went out and checked the guages and the pressures settled to about 35psi suction and 175ish hi side. After running several minutes the ele fans did kick in the in a few they kicked off as I was hopping they would. No cold air, the suction side pipe never got cold and the hi side line got warm but not hot like it was transferring heat. So I am unsure that the expansion valve is operating, but the running pressures that were what I believe to be normal never got way hi or low. If anyone has experience with this sort of issue, any direction is greatly appricated. I did check the blend door and can see and feel it move. gets plenty of heat and no heat when the it's turned to A/C just ambient temp.
