Nope! If the turbo is too hot the engine has to run until it's cooled down to keep cool air and oil going through it. So, the engine keeps running til it's cool then shuts off. Try it sometime.

I just got my '07 MCS last week, and noticed the same thing. Is the engine actually running, or is it an electric fan/pump that we're hearing? (It's roaring away, but the tach reads "0")

Heh. My new MINI did that after climbing Mt. Washington. I had to do to a double take to make sure that the car was off! The radiator fan must have ran 5 minutes after I shut it off before it finally got cooled down!

I wish that the car had a temperature gauge that day! No warning lights ever came on, so I had no idea how hot it was running.

oh, you guys are OK.. don't worry the MINI is smart -- and don't ever be afraid to call the dealership service dept with questions.

the first yeari had my cooper, i called them 2x a month or so.
you can also look up the Mini-Idiosycrancies for your model year at MiniUSA.

hang in there, its a quirky car..
