Default To Mini or not to Mini

Hi! I am looking into purchasing a used 2006 Mini Cooper as my first car. Curious as to what a group of mini enthusiasts would say are pros and cons to owning one! I am just a broke college student so fill me in on costs. I do hear they're "pricy to fix".

Also, was curious if y'all could give me advice on price.
It is a 2005 silver hard top mini. 121,000 miles, leather seats. She is asking $6,250. I looked it up and I believe that is like $3,000 above the KBB price, but I am all new to this so I do not know.

Any input is much appreciated!

Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums. I suggest you read the R53 buyers guide HERE. Get a PPI done by a MINI specialist so they know what to look out for. MINI's do require a bit of work. If you're DIY capable it'll help keep the costs down, but if you're looking for something in terms of low cost/maintenance, you may want to search elsewhere. That buyers guide will fill you in with common issues that arise. Let me know if you have any questions!
