Hello, I'm new here. I am contemplating switching from my WRX to a new Mini Cooper. I'm just starting to look into the Mini's and I'm not sure if I should go with the '06 s/c model, or the new '07 turbo model.
Just curious what you folks would suggest? I am open to any an all suggestions.

Supercharged! But, if you want it with the options you want, wait til the new ones come out since you can't order 06s anymore. And whatever you end up wtih, as long as it says MINI on it, you'll love it.

 

O'rly? I'm curious why the supercharged over the turbo? Wouldn't the turbo be more upgradeable?

 

Until aftermarket parts come around, maybe a year from now... no. Right now there are TONS of mods for the supercharged engine. I like the supercharger because it doesn't have to spool or anything, the boost is on when you want it.

 

Yeah, I'm still checking into which one to get....I'm in no hurry at all.

 

If you're thinking you want a new supercharged one, I'd get on it.

 

Really, what makes you say that? There are a ton of them at dealerships around here. Well maybe not a ton, but between the 2 dealers I checked there was almost 200 new ones in stock.

 

I just bought a 2007 mini turbo. When test driving the car I hardly noticed any turbo lag (very impressive). Supercharges tend to rob the engine of power and turbo's are easier to modify.

Whichever mini you decide to get....im sure you will love it. I strongly suggest that you schedual a test drive. No words can describe the fun. Its like explaining to a blind man what the color blue looks like.
