Hello everyone, my name is Adam and I am new to the forum. I live in western North Carolina and I am a motorcycle mechanic by trade as well as an Amsoil dealer. I recently purchased a 2005 base model mini Cooper. I don’t know anything about them so I thought it would be good to join a forum so that I may converse with like-minded people. So here’s my first question other than the forced induction, what other differences are there between a base and an S model? Can I add a turbo and make my base in S? Are the engines the same other than the forced induction? I really wanted to buy an S but I just came across too good of a deal to pass up on the base.

Welcome to the forum and to the Mini world. First thing I gotta say unfortunately though, Never settle on something just because it's a good deal, if it's not what you really want. Second with enough money anything is possible, but it's not an easy job to just throw a turbo or supercharger on a mini. You would be better off flipping the base model and holding out for the S model you really want.
