Default R52? R55? R56? help a newbie out...

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums... Actually, to be a bit more accurate, I'm new to the Mini. I've been fascinated with the Mini for some time now but don't know a lot about them. If there is an FAQ somewhere that answers my questions, please point me that direction.

1) What is the difference between R52, R55, R56 et cetera?

2) I've seen on various pictures of owner rides, some cars having a built-inboost gauge. Is that a turbo or supercharger?

2a) Which models have the turbo/super charger? How can you tell the difference?

3) I've noticed that not many of them have arm rests. Is that not a commonly purchased option, or is it just that I'm seeing only pictures w/o?

Thanks in advance!!

R50 = 2002/2006 Standard Cooper Hardtop
R52= 2005/2008 Cabrio There is an S supercharged version uses the same chasis
R53=2002/2006 Cooper S , Supercharged Motor Hardtop
R55= 2008/+ Cooper Clubman There is an S model Turbocharged motor
R56=2007/+ Cooper Hardtop There is an S model Turbocharged motor
R57=2008+ Cabrio There is an S model Turbocharged motor

2) Either with supercharger or turbo can add a boost gauge

2a) models listed above , Supercharger are on top of the motor with a top mount intercooler . Turbo is mounted on the front of the motor

3) IMO the Mini armrest is not very comfortable mine is actually behind where it needs to be , there are several aftermarket ones that are a better feel
