Default Rear Window Stuck in Super Cooper Convertilbe

Wonder if anyone else has this problem:
I have a 2011 Mini Super Cooper convertible. About two weeks ago, I noticed that my passenger side rear window would not close once as I was putting the top back up. I tried several times and the window just got "stuck" . The driver side rear window works just fine. I finally took it into the area Mini dealer to see what they could do. Their diagnosis: replace the top fabric (estimated cost: $3900.00. Whoa!
The techs managed to "wrestle" the window back up and charged me only a couple hours shop time. However, I cannot lower the top until I fix this issue...the window will stick again once I try to put the top back up..
Has anyone experienced this and
a. Foundd a work around, or
b. Knows of someone that knows how to fix this without having to replace the top fabric.
