Default work in progress

Hi all.
I just recently purchased a 2006 cooper for my wife as a fun little run around town as opposed to our gas guzzlers we drive. I've done the usual stuff ie:- fixed the electric window, a little bit of bondo on the body etc oh and replaced the brake pads and brake lines. However, I came home the other day and my wife reported a knocking/ clunking noise from the rear left side. I took it for a spin and heard said knocking noise when driving the car in a straight line, however the noise disappears when you turn left? Before taking the rear end apart, any suggestions what I should be looking for on a mini?
Thanks in advance
