This 2009 John Cooper Works MINI has the best of the factory performance options and Lo Jack. It was bought on February 27, 2009 from Braman MINI in Palm Beach, Florida by a professional race car driver to be used as his daily driver. After only 301 miles he traded it in for a new BMW M3. I bought the car from Braman on April 3, 2009. I added most of the performance extras during the following year. The Dunlop tires are brand new. The sales tax and cost of installing the extra equipment is not included in the pricing.
While driving the car in October 2010 the motor blew up. I suspected that the fuel pump problems that MINI had been experiencing with the Cooper S was the cause. I made an insurance claim and over the next few weeks reached a settlement with my insurance company. The dealership’s estimate for the repairs was incredibly high. As a result the insurance company decided to total the car. Since the major damage was to the motor and little else I elected to purchase the car from the insurance company and have it repaired. I was able to buy another 2009 JCW MINI with almost the same mileage to use as a donor for the motor and other necessary parts. I had Redline BMW Performance in Pompano, Florida do the repairs. The total repair bill was $7,839.51, including the cost of the used motor. This car has never been in an accident and has absolutely no frame or body damage.
When I learned that the insurance company was going to issue me a rebuildable title I was very upset. I immediately contacted them and explained that the dealership’s $149.00 an hour service rate and the use of all new parts was the cause of the high estimate. When I told them what I would be spending to repair the car they offered to issue me a clean title, but only if I refunded to them the difference between what they had already paid me and what I was spending to repair the car. I refused their “generous” offer. The car was repaired and submitted to the Florida Department of transportation for inspection and approval to be registered and licensed in Florida . Of course, the car passed with flying colors and is now registered in Florida with a rebuilt title.
Someone has an opportunity to purchase a 2009 John Cooper Works MINI with almost every performance option available. The car now has 18,450 miles on the odometer. The stock JCW “new” motor had 16,353 mile on it when I purchased it. I have added an additional 2,187 miles since then. The Lo Jack coverage has been extended until Fewbruary 16, 2016.
Alta claims that their ECU tune, with the mods on my car, will make 246 horsepower at the wheels with 296 foot pounds of torque.
I have recently purchased a BMW 135i convertible with an automatic transmission (I’m getting old) so the MINI needs to go. I am pricing the car at $23,500.00 to allow for the fact that it has a rebuilt title.
