I have a 2 month old 2018 Clubman and all of a sudden i'm having issues with my Bluetooth connection...my phone pairs, Bluetooth connects, the phone and googlemaps play perfectly...but if I use the Audible or IHeartRadio apps they will play for about 30 sec before the audio cuts off. The app doesn't close, it still looks like it's playing, but there's just no audio coming out. I'm not using Mini Connect app. I've tried unpairing/pairing again...I've made sure all apps are up to date, I've called the local dealership and they don't know what's happening. Anyone experience anything like this? It's just strange that it's 2 different apps, and that the phone/googlemaps work perfectly.

 

I can't speak for Minis, but I currently have a 2018 BMW, which has essentially the same system as your Mini. I had a slightly different problem recently. Had trouble getting anything to play from my phone, and i couldn't get the Apple car Play to come on. I brought it to the dealership, where they performed a software upgrade. Problem solved. Covered under warranty. Maybe your car has a similar issue that can be easily fixed.
