Default runflat warranty

I just picked up by brand new 2008 Mini Cooper S yesterday. The dealership managed to talk me into the runflat warranty. I spent $600 for a 5 year warranty that tows, repairs, or replaces any tire for that time period.......with a $100 "copay" for each incident. I am beginning to think that it may be a waste of money. I have heard that it is around $240 to replace 1 runflat and that most places (Les Schwab) don't stock them. They would have to be ordered. I have another vehicle that I can drive, should such an unfortunate incident occur. Feedback????

My new "baby" is yellow and black! BZZZZZZ

Default RE: runflat warranty

Well, I have a 07 S and caught a screw in the shoulder at 5000 miles.
Not reapairable.
Local tire shop wanted 320. for a new dunlop sport dssr, plus tax and mounting. Dealer wanted 340.

Ended up buying FOUR dunlop sport maxx at tire rack for 480. delivered. Getting a 50. rebate and I hope to sell the other 3 runflats for 75.-100.

HUGE difference. Mini should not be putting runflats on.

The end of the story is that I cancelled the warranty. I will take my chances. If and when I lose a runflat, I will do exactly what you did, buy 4 nice performance tires, sell what is left of my runflats on Craig's, and keep motoring on! I was completely naive to runflats before I bought the mini.
