Gear change & clutch feel
Hi all,
I just recently bought a 2007 R52 Cooper S Cabriolet, and I'm very happy with it.
I am a little surprised though : I guess I was expecting a super-light snicky gear change and a light clutch. My car has neither. The 6-speed gear change needs a firm, deliberate action and the clutch action is surprisingly firm too, almost as though the pedal has a heavy-duty return spring on it. It all seems to work very well, everything feels solid and precise. It's not over-heavy or stiff, just firmer than I expected, and I can't help wondering if it's supposed to be this way? I'd never driven a Mini Cooper S before I bought this one, so I have nothing to compare it to. I don't remember ever reading about the gear change.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Many thanks!
Ric
