Strip the wire of wire back a bit, you have some room/ slack in the harness. Then cut and reclip the ends.

update. I think I found the source of the oil pressure light issue. The plug in for the sensor has a tab the goes over a tab on the sensor, and keeps it in place. That tab was bent up, and was sliding over the tab on the sensor when the motor would heat up. That plug in pulled right off with no resistance. Old age and plastics I guess.

My solution? Inserted a shim to keep that tab pressed down, and keep the plug in in place. No oil pressure warning light since. Idle still drops, no rough running or noticeable misfire.
