I came home yesterday with a 102 fever, and in my sickness I somehow managed to turn off my 2008 Mini Cooper S (automatic transmission/gearbox) without first putting it into park!

Now the key is stuck in its ignition slot, I can't shift the car into park (or any other gear), and the car won't start.

Is there any way that I can get the car started short of having to tow it back to the dealer?

 

Did you try to turn the power on? That is don't put you foot on the brake pedal. Then with just the electrical on ( push and hold the start button down ), put your foot on the brake and move the auto shiftier to park ?
