Default 2009 JCW Convertible - Backfire?

Hi new member just purchased a 2009 JCW Convertible, 50,000 klm, great car. Going to take in for mechanical check, have 3 month warranty. Drives great. When driving and accelerating then backing off the muffler appears to backfire? Muffler sounds great but is this normal?

Just spoke with Cooper Dealer and they advise this is very normal even more so for the JCW edition. All is good!

I also have a 2009 JCW and experience what I would consider sounds like a 'backfire'. Perfectly normal far as I can tell--I have 31,000 miles on it now and its a regular occurrence. Hope this helps!

Yes , its normal, Its the pop and crackle of the JCW Engine / JCW Exhaust. A characteristic of the JCW, John Cooper Works

Exhaust pipes will look like this for the factory version or if someone added it to there Cooper S.

JCW Muffler - Rear Part # 18307646678
