Default Looking to buy a Mini.

Hello everyone. I just created my account so I hope this is the correct area to post this.

Ive been looking for a gas saver and decided on a Mini S, 6 speed. Price, looks, performance, all fits. Its quick yet great on gas. This purchase will not be made for another 6-12 months. My main concern is reliability and maintenance. I keep reading Mini horror stories about clutch sounds and transmission issues. Other than basic maintenance are there any serious issues?

Also from what Ive read the 05' and up are quicker. I was leaning toward the 07' with the turbo. Does that car have issues? Is it a safe purchase?

Thank you.

I hope not, I just bought one to keep miles off my M3 and as a DD. As with any car do the maintenance and it will be fine. Also the R56 has been out for awhile so hopefully bugs have been worked out.

most tranny troubles are automatics ... the 6 speeds are fairly stout like anything else if the owner can't shift they blame the tranny ... not heard many noise complaints are worn clutch / glazed flywheels normally caused by clutch draggers

Default 07 Mini for sale

Hi,

I just created an account today to sell my 07 Cooper S and read your posts. I have a very loved, 07 Mini S, one owner, non-smoker with 33,000 miles. I need to sell it as my husband and I are moving to Colorado and we can only keep our four-wheel vehicles. I love this car and can say I have had no service issues with it since I drove it off of the lot brand new. It just had its 30,000 mile check up and has new oil and a set of new rear brakes. I am also selling a set of Blizzak wheels and tires with it. The car is at my parents home in Toledo, OH if you are interested, I'd love to show it to you. I will be posting the add later today or tomorrow. I'm selling the car and wheels for $19,500. If the wheels are of no interest I'd be willing to negotiate. Looking forward to your possible interest. You can email me directly at engelhart08@gmail.com

Ive heard that the Minis with the turbo produce a lot of torque steer. that might be something you would want to test out and take into concideration.
