Default MAF fun! (and by that I mean problems)

Just got my 09 mini less then a month ago and already the MAF is done.

would anyone happen to know if a S model MAF would work in an my N/A model? Cause I have access to one of those for cheap.

also anyone have any idea where to get a new one from that doesn't cost $300+?

Hello! Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums. The air mass sensor is in deed the same for both the Cooper and Cooper S. We have the OEM supplier and Genuine one below:

Cooper: 2009 Mini Cooper Base Hatchback - Intake System - Page 2
Cooper S: 2009 Mini Cooper S Hatchback - Intake System - Page 2

If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to ask.

if i could ask just one more question...

what years fit on my 09? I have tried to look for answers but there is not a lot of them out there. i have seen there are different part numbers for 2011+ for the maf's but don't know if there is a real difference in the sensor signal or not.

That part number works for MINI R56's (N12's & N14's) with build dates of (10/2005 - 8/2010), MINI Clubman R55 (N12's & N14's) with build dates of (10/2006 - 07/2010) and MINI Cabrio R57's (N12's & N14's) with build dates of (10/2007 - 07/2010). The 2011+ R56 MINI's utilize a N16 (Cooper) and N18 (Cooper S) engine that are different from earlier model year R56's.

I don't know the physical differences, but I do know that real OEM does not say it's compatible for 2011-2013 MINI Cooper S.
