I have a 2007 that I’m looking to get the Metra 99-9309 Double DIN installation kit to install a touchscreen stereo with Bluetooth and back up camera. I was wondering if 1 does anybody have any experience with this and 2 if there’s anything special that I need to make it work as far as any cables and etc.

The head unit for the Mini has a LOT of integration into other services in the car, including your favorite SES light. I've even asked a dealer about swapping to a newer Mini head unit and was told they're not backward compatible. YMMV. Good luck!

 

Volvo uses a similar MOST fibre optic system. With my XC90s I was able to install android head units but it required leaving a lot of the original stereo (ICM and IAM) in the vehicle, stuffed into the dash board, so the MOST network wouldn't throw a fit.

'm new to Minis but MOST is more or less standard and similar loops or leaving components in situ will likely be required
