Why so few manuals out there ?

I am looking to buy a 2016+ Cooper S Convertible with a manual transmission. I cant seem to find any in dealer inventory. Is the manual transmission such a unique thing these days or is there a problem with it ?

There is low demand for the manual, so dealers don't stock that many.
