Noisy fan

Hi, I have a 2006 mini cooper and on occasion when I have had the heater on, when I have swithced the engine off I can still hear the fan going from underneath the bonnet! Any suggestions as to why this happens, is this normal.

Likely this is NOT the heater fan, but the power steering fan staying on. and not normal
