Passenger side door problem

So I have a 2004 mini cooper and the passenger side door has been very hard to open from the outside. Its possible to open it but its very difficult. I was wondering if this is happening to anyone else and if they know of any fixes

the handle has a cable and overtime the cable fails/frays
