Default 2009 Cooper OR 2009 Cooper S: Which to buy?

I am looking to buy my first car within the next couple weeks. I have looked mainly between a 2010 Mazda3 s Grand Touring (5-door) and the 2009 Mini Cooper Hardtop. Right now, I am indecisive on whether it would be better to get a fully-loaded automatic Cooper or get a basic automatic Cooper S (with just Cold Weather package and xenon lights).

I am looking to buy a car for about $25,000 and I prefer an automatic over manual transmissions (which limits the options I can afford).

I live in Northern Ohio, so I could use the Cold Weather package. I am debating if I need other packages/options like a Moonroof.

Which would you rather buy?:
a fully-loaded 2009 Cooper hardtop
OR
a fairly basic 2009 Cooper S hardtop (just CW package and xenon headlights)

Default Cooper or Cooper S

I had the same dilema. First test drive them both. The Cooper S is very sporty, do you want that? I got the Cooper and added sunroof, 17" tires etc. I plan on getting winter tires. I find the Cooper has enough to scoot around and have fun with. But if you want the extra sport, cooper S. I found the Cooper smoother in terms of suspension too.
