Default Do Mini's require a lot of service?

Hi, new here. I'm considering buying a used Mini CooperS. I've looked at two 2008's. One was a hard top, 6 speed maual (54,000 miles) the other had the panoramic sunroof, paddle shifter (78,000 miles). When asked why they were selling them, both private sellers told me because the warranties were about to run out. I thought that was odd. Do these cars require a lot of maintenance?

I'm on my second jeep in 22 years. Both bought new. The first went 10 years 186,000 miles before starting to smoke, the one I have now is 12 YO 220,000 still going strong. I do ALL the maintenance and repairs on my cars so I am pretty good with a wrench yet I'm concerned with the responses from these two sellers.

A car with less then 100K miles seems quite new to me still. Should I be concerned that the factory warranties are running out?

I wouldn't say they require a lot of service but once in a while you might come up with something unexpected like a clogged water drain or some minor electrical issues. Remember, this is a BMW in Mini clothing. If you have owned or know someone who owns a BMW then you know what to expect in the near future. Hope this helps a little.

Default Hope it's not too late

Run. Run in the other direction. Any other direction. DO NOT WASTE ANY OF YOUR MONEY ON ONE OF THESE CHEAP PIECES OF JUNK! BMW skated over on this car so much it's unbelieveable. I'm not one to write lengthy things at a place like this, but if you'd like, I can. Where I can detail all the short-cuts they made and how un-reliable these cars are. Hope it's not too late for you.
