Default 06 mini trans or clutch clicking while driving

I have a 2006 mini, 5 speed manual. While driving and while deceleration the transmission or clutch makes a clicking noise (sounds like a card in a bicycle wheel). It is only heard while coasting and as soon as i give it a little gas it goes away. I can put it in neutral and coast and the noise is still there, revving the engine doesn't change the noise at all and it get slower or faster depending on the speed. As i slow down the clicking is slow. I have searched quite a bit and can't find anyone else with this problem so thought i'd post here. Any ideas would be great. thanks

So i ended up pulling the transmission and having a friend take it apart. The pin in the differential was broken and all 8 bolts on the differential were loose. I called mini cooper to get the pin but they don't sell any internal parts and said i would have to buy a whole transmission. I found a guy that parts out mini transmissions and was able to get a pin from him. Got it together for $100 in parts (pin plus output shaft seals) and my time. Here are a couple pics of the the broken pin and the new pin. Hope this post will help someone eventually.

Glad you got it figured out and glad you found the pin you needed. Looks like you did a great job.

I've the same sound. I've been monitoring it for past thousands miles (I just bought the car, 04 cooper base). The noise hasn't gotten worse nor have I seen excessive metal shavings in the transmission magnetic drain plug.
Any idea how it makes that noise? Is the pin hitting the teeth of any differential gears?

Also for me the noise goes away if I'm in neutral or clutch on. The noise is only when accelerating or decelerating. 5th great sounds completely different, but that's cuz of the Midland having the 5th gear installed differently than the others, I believe.

Yea that sounds like the same thing. It wouldn't do it in neutral or clutch in. The pin wears in half and wobbles i believe.
