Recently purchased a new-to-me 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman. Runs fine and got it home from the seller with a couple stops in-between. Today, the vehicle will not shift out of park (P) with the engine running, brake pedal depressed, etc. Per manual instruction, I used the "key" provided in the tool kit and removed the yellow pin which is supposed to over-ride the interlock...it did not work. My search on the internet has provided only less-than-definitive responses.
If anyone can provide suggestions and/or authoritative links, I'd be most appreciative! Thanks for the accommodation!
Edit / Follow-up: Apparently, the shifter inter-lock has a history of getting stuck due to the mechanism itself. I gave the **** 3 military-grade downward blows which resolved the problem. I'm also now seeing an alert signal which confirms the inter-lock is now bypassed.Shifter inter-lock tool & pin
