2006 Mini Cooper S Rad Fan Low Side
Hello all,
I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S that I recently purchased. I noticed that I'm getting some very strange fan cycles. First, when the high side fan kicks in, my supply drops from a perfect 14 V to about 12.2 to 12.1 volts, then back up when it shuts off so I'm wondering if that's an issue or if it's common to draw that much. I also don't seem to have a low side fan engaging. I tested the relays which are all functioning and the low side terminal is supplying 14 V but the fan is not kicking on to the low setting, only the high setting. This is only an issue when I'm idling with the A/C on since that seems to be the only time the fan is even engaged at any point. Should I replace the fan? Is my alternator not strong enough at idle? It sounds like one side of a resistor has failed but the other resistor works fine.
