the convertible top refuses to go up and down.
all the latches work, the sunroof part goes forwards and back, but when it comes to the roof the motors work and make a horrible grinding noise, like slipping belts or worn cogs (i don't know how the system works) and the top sort of judders.

while holding the button the top can be manually moved.

what i really need to know is, where are the motors and stuff located, and how can i get to them?
has anyone else had this problem and fixed it without selling your first born to mini?

has anyone replied to this,i was just looking at the date,i have same problem,but no grinding noise i have just fitted new hydro pump,roof control modual,2 new purple relays,6 hours with bmw mini specialist,the sun roof opens,the windows open,the locking latches unlock,then nothing,if i disconect the multi plug from the roof control modual,for abt 10 seconds,replace the multi-plug,the roof opens and closes no problem,its cost me abt£1000 so far,i just wondered if anyone had the same problem
