I have an 09 mini cooper and I wanted to replace my fuel filter but when I went into the store to pick one up the guy said I would have to replace my whole fuel pump. Wanted to know if this was true or if it was ok to just replace my fuel filter.

 

Most likely yes in BMW's it seems you rarely replace just the small part, and will you need to replace the whole assembly or whole pump.
