Issue with high pressure pump and oil pump solenoid leaking
hi everyone,
i am new to the forum and i am posting elsewhere as well. I just took my "2011 Mini Countryman S" with 60k miles to the dealer after it started running crappily and i feel like these problems should be pervasive and could help others.
possibly we can even start a recall campaign as the solenoid issue could be a result of poor craftsmanship.
The car was throwing a bunch of error codes on the OBC like
<<
Multiple misfire detected
Cylinder 4 misfire
P0300, p0302 p0304
P0087 fuel rail system pressure too low
>>
All those problems were a result of my high pressure pump faulting. That could be a result of wear and tear. I also found out that previous mini models had issues with the pump faulting and there might have been some recalls as well, but my model has a newer pump. Guess what, that starts to fail now too
When the dealer opened the car, they also found that my oil pump solenoid is leaking oil into the wiring harness (the electrical system that plugs all over the engine). Damaging the wiring harness could short the computer and overall moisture and oil on that harness is bad.
I think the latter problem is a result of poor craftsmanship. the dealer wants 600 usd to replace the solenoid, but the wiring harness replacement is twice that amount.
have others gotten similar problems on their minis?
good luck everyone and drive safe.
