Default I need help to figure out what is wrong with my wife's mini.

Hello,

My wife has 2006 mini cooper with automatic. The mileage is around 20k miles. When I put the shifter to "D", it takes 1 sec to car starts moving. It used to take off right away, and very smooth. Now, I put it in D, step on the gas pedal, the car doesn't go anywhere, and after 1sec, it takes off. So it's not smooth like before. I know something is wrong with it.
Also last week, my wife started the engine, put the gear into R and drove the car about 4 feet, then the engine stops. She turned on the engine right away and it was fine.
Can anyone give me some advice on those symptoms?
Please let me know if you need to know more about condition of the car.

Thank you.

Seems like you may be developing a tranny problema. Take it in right away before it gets worse I'd say.

If I change the transmission fluid, does it help?
Is there any other way to check transmission?
Thanks.

With only 20k I doubt the fluids the issue ...
You did check the level though correct?

There are numerous times I've heard of the dealer flashing the tranny control module to "fix" similar troubles

I was going to check the fluid, but as you know, checking the fluid for mini, I have to go under the car. I haven't checked the level yet.
What is the tranny control module? I will fix it if I can.
Thanks.

Thank you for the reply.
I will contact a dealer and ask them to do that.
