Default central locking

I have a 2002 mini cooper, central locking does not work with the key fob. All doors lock and unlock when using the key in the door. Doors lock and unlock from the panel switch in the car.

Does this mean that the BC1 and door lock actuators are OK and the key is not working or could there be something else !!!

any comment would be greatly appriciated,

Do you have a spare key you can test out? It could be that the battery in the key is bad. I'd first attempt to replace the battery. MINI's '04 and older don't have a rechargeable battery in the fob so the replacement should be very easy. I'd start there.

Ah, ok. Did you try this suggestion from this thread HERE? Both the driver and passenger door wont unlock/lock with the fob correct? If one was working and one wasn't, I'd think it was the actuator, but both at the same time is interesting. It could happen though.

Just tried the reset, no luck Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. The doors and the hatch will not lock with the fob. When I use the key in the door all doors lock, and lights blink as it should I guess. The console switch also works ok.

I do not know if my model has auto lock when you are driving, as the doors do not lock.

I have three keys, new batteries in all and still no luck, mind blowin!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate your help though and I will keep looking. I have a few thousand KM before a service is required, if i have not found a solution by then I will ask the dealer. It will cost the same as buying a small farm but It's annoying that it does not work
