Bought a 2009 JCW Mini - Have a couple of questions and saying hi!
Hi all!
As the title says, I recently purchased a 2009 JCW Mini cooper with 19k miles on it for (what i think is a good price) $21,900. The feel of this car was right up my alley for what I was looking for, and being 6 foot 1--I had some concerns about fitting in comfortably, something that was quelled very fast.
I did have some questions on these cars that I was hoping someone here could shed some light on.
-- With the JCW version already having an upgraded turbo and (i think?) suspension, what kind of other tuning or aftermarket modifications could I look at making to really get the most out of this vehicle? I am my own mechanic and trained through a BMW dealership for a few years---so I know my way around a little bit if need be.
-- Anything I should keep my eye out for PM wise? Common problems, that kind of thing.
-- How are these little guys in the winter? I plan on purchasing some decent winter tires to replace the run flat all-seasons, so Im hoping that will suffice (I live in Iowa, so we can get some harsh blizzards).
Thanks for any help you guys could provide and I hope to have a great experience driving this little bugger!

hope you're loving your mini. i bought myself an 06 cooper S in april 2012 and have loved it! its not the JCW and its an 06 so its supercharged but i also have a friend of mine that's got i believe an 09. I do have a set of 17" blizzaks that i had on my 03 sentra specV that i traded in on the cooper.
i was a doubter of the winter tires and was skeptical that tires could make that big a difference. but i again had a friend who had some blizzacks on his mazda6 and swore by them. so i tried them out and i love, love, love them. I was only ever stuck once with them on the sentra and it was because i slowed down and rode up on top of a drift. that said an independent plow truck pulled me off in a blizzard and then went in the ditch. he then hopped in my car and we made it into town. enough said for the snow tires.
btw, im hailing from eastern iowa myself. always on the lookout for more minis!
