Check engine light (MIL) issue on 2008 Mini N12
So this has me baffled. I've just completed a top end rebuild on my 2008 Mini Cooper non turbo. The work was done to fix a burnt valve problem which reduced the motor to running on three cylinders. Prior to starting the motor for the first time following the rebuild I erased the old codes. The motor started and runs just fine but my check engine light is still on. I expected that there might be a fault with a sensor or something else, so I reconnected my scan tool, (a Launch Model 529) and to my surprise it showed no fault with the motor. I tried to erase codes, but naturally it showed "no codes to erase". After all this the CEL or MIL is still showing on the Tach. I still have all the light wires disconnected as the front end is still in service mode, but I don't think this should effect anything. Am I missing something here? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
