Default Interference engine?

Hello. I'm new to the forum. I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S, R56, 1.6L Turbo. I've been enjoying the ride for almost 7 years. Unfortunately, I think my timing chain has broken. The mechanic did a compression test and it's not good 1 - 90, 2 - 0, 3-90, 4-0. He does not specialize in Minis, but what happens next is pending on what type of engine I have. (I guess if it's not too major they can handle it, otherwise it needs to go to another shop) I am hoping that someone can tell me if there is any way to tell if my engine is an interference engine without tearing it apart?
