Default Intro and Advice...

Hi,

New here...and don't have a mini yet.

Very much a car enthusiast..

I am looking for a new vehicle for day to day driving in Michigan (yes with Winter).

I recall my son telling me years ago Mini's are great and great in snow.

Tired of 17 mpg in SUVs and looking for something fun, practical and that will work in snow.

So looking for feedback links:

How good in snow?
What should I know about maintenance/cost?
Like the sportsman for extra room
Will buy pre-owned....any particular years I should consider/stay away from?
What can be done to maintain by reasonably talented DIY and what must be done by dealer?

Thanks in advance....looking forward to learning!

Jeff

I'm in Ohio , mini's been great in snow I do suggest a good set of snow tires for best traction ..
Wifes Clubmans doing great on stock tires.
unfortunately used clubmans are RARE and PRICEY , we hunted and ended up buying new with the 0% financing we couldn't match the used ones with higher financing

Maintenance on new is covered first 3 years 36K..
costs are not bad I change oil at 5K (mine says 15K or yearly) Synthetic oil and filters are $30/$40...If I'm in a hurry the quick lubes are $50/$60
most DIY info is easy to find on the net/forums

To avoid early automatics are known for very expensive failures $3k+
