Default New member - advice on final negotiations (warranties, etc)

Hi Everyone,

First post as new member. I am going into dealer to do the final paperwork for my purchase of a 2015 Countryman S. I am dreading the "talk" with the finance department when they try to sell you extended warranties, options, etc. Can anyone give some advice as to how to best get through this part of the process without too much pain?

Is ANY of the stuff they are going to offer worth it? What is your opinion?

Regards,
GS

Yeah, I dread the "talk" also. I say just hear them out. Most of the stuff they'll try to sell you is the extended warranty and such so you have to look into the future and ask yourself just how long you think you'll keep your Mini. Just keep that in mind. Good luck!

I am also new to the forum, but have had a lot of experience with what you are speaking about. Here is my .02 (take it as you wish my friend).

I think the warranty comes down to 3 key decision points.

1) Do you have the money to purchase the extended warranty? If you do, are you willing to fork that over?

2) How long do you plan on having the car? If you plan on keeping it for a while, it might be a good idea to have some added protection. If you plan on having it for 2-3 years, it might be wasted money.

3) How likely is the car to have issues within the timespan of the warranty?

If you can come up with answers to those questions, at least for myself, you should be able to come up to your decision. I hope this helps a bit.

Welcome! Did you pick up the new Countryman? How'd the negotiation go?
