Owned a 2016 F55, B38 6MT for just over 2 years and 60,000 miles. Absolutely love it. I commute Daily from Colorado Springs to Denver and back, 95 miles round trip on fast freeways, with turns and hills. Average 46-50mpg round trip. Such a sweet little car.
I've owned the following cars for comparison:
'91 Toyota Tercel base 4MT
'03 Corolla 5MT
'07 Nissan Versa 6MT (junk)
'08 Altima 4Cyl CVT
'08 Honda CRV- 5A
'06 BMW 325i 6A
'17 Honda Civic CVT
'11 Audi Q5 2.0T 8A
'15 Audi Q5 TDI 8A
'17 Dodge Grand Caravan 6A
17' Chrysler Pacifica 9A (CURRENT)
Plus 6 different motorcycles including BMWs.
My wife and I have been all over the place. Least reliable has been the Pacifica and Versa. Most reliable was the Civic, CRV, Tercel (I beat the living hell out of that car as a teenager, no issues), Corolla, my Mini and the Grand Caravan. Least reliable is he Pacifica, Versa, both Audis and the BMW. Most fun is a tie between the 325i, Q5 TDI and my Mini. The torque of that Audi was just silly. 428 Ft Lbs... like having a small block V8 off the line up to 90mph and the rear biased AWD just hooked up. The BMW brakes were simply amazing and the handling and steering feel were awesome. The 6 cylinder wasn't that powerful but sounded awesome at higher RPMs and wanted you to rev it out. IF it wasnt for oil leaks and cooling system issues I might have kept that car. It also was a so-so automatic. A little clunky at times, not like the sweet 8 speed in the Audi.
Only complaint on my mini is the fairly tall 1st and 2nd gears make driving in slow traffic a little tedious and the engine really hates being lugged at all... and LSPI is a concern too. Final drive is taller than the S model and I've never driven one but I suspect it's less fussy under 1500RPM having 4 cylinders.
