Default New mini owner advice

We're about to purchase a convertible S and needing some advice on things like models, maintenance, etc. we will likely spend under 20k and drive less than 8k a year. Really just a city car.

I know that engines changed in 2010 and this leads to less maintenance, or so said the service guy at the dealership. Other advice welcomed.

Thanks
Shawn in Austin

Hello Shawn, that is correct. The newer models from 2010+ are a lot better then the older models. Nothing to take away from the older models. I have an '04 S myself and totally love it. In my opinion I would get a manual if that's possible. More pep and fun to drive. Maintenance is the usual as any other car. Hope this helps a bit. Cheers!
