Default Best Car Rental Options for Road Trips – Any Recommendations?

Hello everyone.

I'm planning a road trip across the Western US this summer, and I’m looking into car rental options. Ideally, I want something spacious and comfortable for long drives but also fuel-efficient. I’ve considered a few SUVs, but I’m open to suggestions.

What’s your experience with road trip rentals? Are there any companies that offer great deals, good customer service, or flexible insurance options? Also, are there specific models or types of cars you recommend for such a trip?

Any advice on hidden fees or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Heading out for a summer off-road trip? Don't forget these essentials: Safety gear (first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, flashlight, gloves, sunblock, bug spray), recovery tools (spare tire, jack, tow straps, shovel, hi-lift jack, jumper cables), repair tools (wrenches, socket set, pliers), and personal items (extra water and food, maps/GPS, communication devices, clothes, toilet paper). Summer-specific must-haves include a cooler, cooking gear, sunglasses, and camp chairs. Always pack double the water and food you need and prepare for emergencies with navigation and basic survival tools. Be smart, stay safe, and enjoy the adventure!
