Default Airbag light comes on while driving

My son was sitting in the backseat (with his size 12 feet under the seat.) My husband put his passenger seat down and back on my son's feet. Immediately the airbag light came on. I Looked under the seat, nothing looks unplugged, but then I don't really know what to look for. Appreciate any help on this one! I had an airbag issue with an Audi TT that ultimately led to its sale. Hope that's not the case with the MINI!

There is a plug under both seats If it's unplugged and the car is started or unplugged while running the car will need the system reset (dealer)

I was afraid I was headed down the dealer avenue ($). I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the light--no such luck. Oh well....Thank you for the feedback--appreciate it.

Default Airbag light resolved

I took the car to Passport Mini in VA. Wiring harness and connectors were replaced, all under warranty. My cost ...$0. I am a happy customer. They were great at the dealer and I am surprised and amazed that a 2002 is still protected under warranty. I was told, certain codes for the airbag are covered for 150,000. Luckily, my code was one of them. Thanks for the help-
