2007 Mini Cooper S (Starts up and idles rough)
I recently purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper S with a blown head gasket. I took the Mini Cooper to a friends shop and they changed the head gasket, machined the head, etc. Car runs on all 4 cylinders now and no longer overheats, but still runs terrible.
When you first crank the car, it usually dies. After about 3 or 4 cranks, it catches and idles terrible. You give it gas and it just spits and sputters. The mechanic there says it runs good after it warms up.
I was told it could be a mass airflow sensor. After purchasing one for $300 and having it installed, it did not help the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this or similar and found a solution? Please help! I cannot afford to spend more unnecessary funds on this vehicle!

I'm having the same problem. Bought mine with a blown head gasket and had it all replaced with brand new parts. Now it has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and runs fine, other times it takes me 10-20 times to get it started. It idles rough and my fan stays on for 6 minutes after I turn the car off. Replaced everything I was told to replace.. not sure what to do.
