Engine cuts out when idle
Hi all,
I'm after some advice please. I have a Mini Cooper 2008 plate. It's done around 55,000 miles.
I drive around 20 miles in the morning on A-roads, reaching a maximum of 40mph and have no faults with the car.
I drive a similar distance in the late afternoon but take the motorway, reaching a maximum of 70mph. When the car comes to a standstill, the rev counter judders between 0 and 1 before the engine completely cuts out. The only way to restart is to press the stop/start button. It's not the stop/start function, as the engine is shuddering before cutting out. The fault continues after I leave the motorway and take A-roads until I reach my destination.
I've been ripped off before by a garage so would rather receive advice from other Mini enthusiasts before taking the car to the workshop.
Thanks :-)
