Rough idle, check engine light on.
Model
2005 model year Cooper S and Cooper S convertible with the W11 engine.
Complaint
Service Engine Soon/EML light illuminated. Fault code P1498, unmetered air after compressor, is stored.
Cause
The plastic inlet duct at the supercharger has separated at the plastic weld point and is leaking.
Measure
Replace the inlet duct assembly, P/N 17 51 1 524 439, with a new like part. Measures to improve the quality of the plastic weld have been implemented.
Rough idle, check engine light on.
