VIN Lookup Tools for Used Car Buying
Hello everyone,
I’ve been eyeing a 2015 Jeep Cherokee listed at a great price, but before I move forward I want to get a complete background check using the VIN. I've seen Carfax and AutoCheck, but before I spend money, I’d like to know if there are any free options out there that actually give valuable info.
I ran the VIN on the NICB site — it says the car hasn’t been stolen or salvaged, which is great. But that’s not enough for me. I want to know about maintenance, previous accidents, maybe even where the car was registered before. Can any of those sites like VINCheck.info or VehicleHistory.com be trusted to give accurate info?
Also, are there any government resources or DMV tools by state that let you look up VIN history?
If you’ve bought a used vehicle recently and did it without paying for a premium report, please share how you did it and what worked best. Thanks in advance!
