Default weird automatic transmission shifting problem

Let me just say I just got a 2005 mini convertible. Love the car, but, it has an automatic transmission ( my preference is manual ) and the transmission shifts randomly and if you try to accelerate from a dead stop there is a lag before it hooks up and then it kind of snatches hold and shoots forward. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you checked fluid level ?
After thar I'd say dealer scan/reflash on the tranny

Hi Bad Venge,
Thanks, I will have the dealer re-flash. I really appreciate the advice. Cheers

Default tranny problems

I just picked up a 05 S conv. about a month ago and i'm having the same problems your describing. Sometimes it slips between 2-3 or down shifts hard randomly. Haven't been able to get it to act up for the dealer. But somethings not right

is it a cvt? cvt's are known for losing their calibration on the software. if your rpms are high on the freeway and u have a cvt, and it doesnt seem to want to shift into a higher gear, you need to bring it in and have the cvt serviced and they will perform a rest procedure of the transmission. unfortunately cvt's are very expensive to replace and not worth the money if they tell you you need one.

CVT = Continuously Variable Transmssion

It's like a scooter tranny that sheaves shift to change the belt ratio
