Advice on what year to get a Cooper s

I'm looking around for a little stick shift car that's fun to drive and gets great mpgs. Top of my list is a mini cooper s. But I'm curious in what year to get Best year Most reliable. Least defects or recalls. I don't know much about coopers. But I've driven a few And They are great. Let me know any and all opinions.

Honestly get the latest model you can. They are always improving things on the newer models so that's my best advice =)
